Is the cafeteria packed right now? On campus, you usually find out only once you get there. No Waiting is a bilingual campus app for university restaurants, cafeterias and gyms.
Each venue streams its queue length and occupancy live. The app estimates the wait from throughput, and maps a walking route to the quietest venue. Reminders are the clever part. Each user's threshold is encoded into a Firebase Cloud Messaging topic name, so everyone with the same threshold shares one topic.
Every 2 minutes, a scheduled Cloud Function checks occupancy. When a threshold is met, one publish to that topic fans out to every matching subscriber, instead of one send per user. Built in Flutter on Firebase Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, FCM and Google Maps. About 12 months, as mobile and Cloud Functions engineer.
Check the line. Skip the wait.
